Royal Brompton Carols by Candlelight 2025 raises over £10,000 for Royal Brompton Hospital

Carols by Candlelight
News Release

Royal Brompton Carols by Candlelight 2025 united the community in a heartfelt celebration of hope and generosity. Thanks to our supporters, this much-loved annual concert raised £10,734 for Royal Brompton Hospital, helping give people with heart and lung conditions more time with their loved ones.

Around 580 supporters filled St Luke’s Church in Chelsea, wrapping the space in warmth despite the cold outside. From the moment the first note was sung, the atmosphere was one of reflection, joy and shared purpose.

The evening was elevated by the beautiful voices of The Schola Cantorum of The London Oratory School, whose exquisite choral performances captured the wonder of Christmas. Their singing echoed through the church, creating moments of calm and connection that reminded us all why this time of year matters so much.

Adding a joyful and distinctly festive note, Singing for Breathing, our inspiring patient choir, had the audience smiling and singing along. A highlight of the night was their performance of Merry Christmas Everyone, by charity patron Shakin’ Stevens, which brought the church to life and perfectly captured the spirit of the season.

The carols were interwoven with deeply moving readings that spoke to the heart of our mission. Patient Sonsare Zabadi read Isaiah chapter 9, verse 1-7, while Dr Alexander Lyon, our Clinical Ambassador, read A Visit From St. Nicholas by Clement Clarke Moore. Grant Aitken, Head of Health Partnerships at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, also delivered a thoughtful reading of Christmas Mail by Ted Kooser.

These moments shared one powerful message: thanks to our supporters, people facing some of the hardest moments of their lives are not facing them alone.

Every ticket bought and every donation made is helping fund life-saving treatment, pioneering research and compassionate care at Royal Brompton Hospital. This Christmas, our supporters gave the ultimate gift – hope – helping patients spend more precious time with the people they love.
